Great Ponds Greeting Cards 2021
In the fall of 2020, shellfish closures and a cyanobacteria bloom had been making headlines, seeming to confirm what many Islanders had been observing for years: that Martha’s Vineyard’s great ponds were in decline.
In response, we started raising money and working to create a film that examines the situation and shines a light on the various people and organizations working to improve the health of the ponds. While filming, it became clear that the scope of the story was too large for a single short film, so we decided to create a series which will be shot, edited, and released over the next few years. We are busy editing the first film, scheduled for release this coming spring, and continuing to film.
After a year of filming the ponds and capturing the stories and perspectives of Islanders and organizations like the Vineyard Conservation Society, the Great Pond Foundation, and the Martha’s Vineyard Shellfish Group, just to name a few, we have created another set of greeting cards in order to share some of our film images and help raise funds to finish production of the film.
This year's cards feature five images of the ponds, and each set includes two cards of each image, for a total of ten cards per set. Proceeds from the sale of these cards go directly towards funding this film series. Thank you for your support!
